Thematic Areas

In order to focus and give direction to the range of the University of Gondar's numerous research activities undertaken within the community, we have identified 20 key research thematic areas that seek to address the needs of our society.

Research Centers

The University of Gondar since its inception has established numerous research centers which help progress our vision, mission and aims. With a keen eye to develop the country for future generations, we are ready to serve in whatever capacity is asked of us. Take a look at what we are working on!

UoG Journals

We are a leading institution to own reputable journals in the country. We have five journals, and we are glad to share that our Ethiopian Renaissance Journal of Social Science and Humanities has been newly accepted for SCOPUS coverage.

Gondar Family Project

On 7 December 2019 we launched the long anticipated Gondar Family Project. The initiative that will link 5,000 first year students from the University of Gondar with families from the city of Gondar is a first of its kind at UoG. The Project is bound to create an atmosphere of peace and family which will reverberate across the country.

Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR)

The University of Gondar has one of the oldest Community Based Rehabilitation Programs in the country. The aim of community-based rehabilitation is to help people with disabilities, by establishing community-based medical integration, equalization of opportunities, and Physical therapy rehabilitation programs for disabled people.

Mastercard Foundation

The University of Gondar (Ethiopia) and Queen’s University (Canada), supported by the Mastercard Foundation, have developed a 10-year partnership to advance inclusive higher education for young people with disabilities and disadvantages. The Program aims to cultivate the country's and continent's next generation transformative leaders.
